Chamie McCurry began her career booking the entertainment at Baker University in Kansas, which led her to an internship with a local promoter. She notes, “Years later, I found my late father’s collection of concert ticket stubs, and almost all of them were promoted by my first boss. It felt like a quiet reminder that this path was always meant to find me.”

After that internship, she was all-in, having now spent more than 25 years working in live events. McCurry, who previously served as Vice President of Marketing at AEG Presents and started her own marketing company in 2019, joined DWP in 2019 as Chief Marketing Officer and last year was named general manager.

She’s presided over one of the company’s most successful years in its history, with more than one million fans attending festivals like Louder Than Life and Bourbon & Beyond, both taking place once again this September over two weekends in Louisville, Kentucky. Other hard-rocking DWP properties include Welcome to Rockville in Daytona Beach, Florida, and Columbus, Ohio’s Sonic Temple, both scheduled for May; Inkcarceration Festival, set for July in Mansfield, Ohio, and Sacramento’s Aftershock Festival in October.

“The rock community is incredibly passionate, welcoming and loyal,” McCurry says. “Being able to deliver award-winning experiences for that audience is something I never take for granted.”

Asked who she’d credit for helping her career, McCurry says, “I’ve been lucky to be surrounded by truly great people. My first boss and longtime mentor, Joe Litvag, empowered me early on to trust my voice, lean into my strengths, and lead with confidence. And Danny Wimmer is a true visionary—his instinct and creativity are unmatched. Being able to help bring his ideas to life is something I’m incredibly proud of.”

McCurry points to “intentional leadership” as one of the main philosophies that guides her: “I’m very thoughtful about how I show up for people, how I build trust and accountability. This is a fast-moving, high-pressure business and strong relationships are everything. When we’re aligned, transparent and truly invested in one another, we’re able to do our best work and create something special together.”
