Dodgers Ink Field Naming Rights Deal With Uniqlo

The Los Angeles Dodgers agreed to a deal with Uniqlo granting the Japanese clothing company naming rights to Dodger Stadium’s field, according to The Athletic.
The sponsorship deal would be the first of its kind in Dodger Stadium’s storied 64-year history. The organization reportedly wasn’t open to selling the naming rights to the stadium, but the deal will likely have the playing field be named Uniqlo Field at Dodger Stadium.
Uniqlo is a Japanese fashion giant with more than 1,000 stores around the globe, including various locations across Southern California, and the company will have a large presence at the iconic stadium in Chavez Ravine. The Dodgers are expected to announce the deal before Opening Day on March 26.
With the Dodgers cultivating a large Japanese fanbase behind its trio of Shohei Ohtani, Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Rōki Sasaki, it’s no surprise that a major company from Japan would want to partner with the L.A. team.
Naming rights are a big part of the stadium business, and Dodger Stadium is one of the few remaining ballparks without a corporate sponsor attached to the venue’s name. The trend of playing field name rights has grown over the years. Such deals include GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, United Airlines Field at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum and the Denver Broncos’ Empower Field at Mile High.
