Passion Pit Announce North American Summer Tour

Passion Pit, led by influential indie pop artist Michael Angelakos, announced a headlining summer 2026 tour with club and festival stops including Middle Waves Music Festival, Bonnaroo, the Minnesota Yacht Club Festival and Up In The Sky Festival.

Angelakos will be playing alongside bandmates Giuliano Pizzulo (lead guitar/samples/synths), Eric Scullin (bass/synths), Denzel Cox (organs/synths) and Ben Barter (drums/drum machine). Tickets for the tour are available March 18.

Passion Pit began as the solo project of Angelakos, who created music alone in his dorm room in Boston before moving to an apartment in Cambridge in 2006, where he shared his compositions with his roommates and friends. Angelakos self-released the Chunk of Change EP, which included the songs “Batty Lashes” and “Tons of Guns,” selling the EP for $7 at his first show on March 20, 2007, in the Cabaret at Emerson College.

Ambitious, but not altogether informed. The stickers Angelakos used on the CDs weren’t meant for playing inside a computer, but fortunately no one asked for a refund or repair costs. He did, however, give them a new disc. He still owes his friend Colin Pratt approximately $250 for the printing and overnighting of the record sleeves.

Undaunted, Angelakos’ friends and frequent collaborators Ian Hultquist and Adam Lavinsky, encouraged him to start a band, which went to sell out shows in Boston and were named Best New Band by the Boston Phoenix.

After being picked up by Frenchkiss in 2008, Chunk of Change was released with the hit “Sleepyhead” solidifying Passion Pit’s evolution with 3x Platinum certification – including a Passion Pit and Sofi Tukker remix of the song, which was released in March of 2025.

To celebrate the two decades since the Chunk of Change, Passion Pit will be releasing the Pretty Penny EP. The project honors the past while eyeing the enormous amount of new material that Angelakos intends to release with the full band – a Passion Pit first. Release date and track list will be announced at a later date.
