Placebo Announces 30th Anniversary UK/European Tour

Placebo are going on tour through the UK and Europe in celebration of their self-titled debut album, Placebo, released June 17, 1996 on Virgin, during the height of the Britpop era.
This year, on June 19, Placebo release Placebo RE:CREATED, which features “powerful new reworked and embellished versions of all ten tracks from the original album plus two bonus tracks,” according to a social media post from the band today, March 18.
A band statement reads, “We think of this record as a director’s cut. We haven’t recreated it from scratch. We went back to the original master tapes and brought 30 years of playing these songs live back into the record.
“This project was about finally finishing the record, dragging it into the 21st century sonically, while preserving the integrity and the spirit of the original. It’s not about improving it, there’s nothing wrong with it, it’s about completing it.
“It’s a celebration of where we began, and a meeting point between who we were then and who we are now; a way of honoring that innocence, while letting the songs exist with the scale, confidence, and energy of the band we’ve become.”
The tour in celebration of 30 years of Placebo will feature songs from the album, as well as its follow-up, Without You I’m Nothing, released Oct. 12, 1998. It kicks off Oct. 1 in Madrid, Spain, and wraps Dec. 7 in Cardiff, Wales.
Preorder for Placebo RE:CREATED starts March 22, at 11.59 p.m. GMT. The artist presale for the tour starts March 24 at 9 a.m. GMT, with the general on sale launching March 27, 9 a.m..
Placebo is repped by Rod MacSween worldwide excluding North America, where they’re signed to Zach Hyde’s Big Wave Agency.
