Hornets Sports & Entertainment (HSE) announced that Spectrum Center welcomed its 25 millionth guest during a game between the Charlotte Hornets and Miami Heat this week. As fans entered the arena, members of Hive Entertainment surprised Hornets fan Matt Hill and his wife Jackie Hill with the news, showering the couple with confetti and a prize package that included upgraded tickets to the game, tickets to several future events at Spectrum Center, a gift card to the Hornets Fan Shop and more.

“I couldn’t believe it when they told me,” stated Hill in the release. “We’ve been Hornets season ticket holders for two years now, and to be part of a moment like this is something we’ll never forget.”

“As we celebrate Spectrum Center’s 20th anniversary, welcoming our 25 millionth guest is a special milestone that reflects the incredible support of the Carolinas,” added Hornets President of Business Operations Shelly Cayette-Weston. “For two decades, Spectrum Center has been a place where fans come together to experience unforgettable moments, and we’re proud to continue creating those memories for years to come.”

The 25-million guest milestone reflects attendance across all events hosted at Spectrum Center, including Hornets games, concerts, family shows and special events. Located in the heart of Uptown Charlotte, Spectrum Center has hosted some of the region’s most memorable events over the past 20 years, including the 2012 Democratic National Convention, the 2019 NBA All-Star Weekend, ACC Men’s Basketball Tournaments and multiple NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament games.

“We’ve always viewed Spectrum Center as more than just an arena – it’s a gathering place for our community,” stated Spectrum Center Chief Venues Officer Donna Julian. “Reaching 25 million guests is a testament to the fans, performers and partners who have helped make this venue such an important part of Charlotte’s sports and entertainment landscape.”

Since opening on Oct. 21, 2005, with a sold-out concert by the Rolling Stones, the venue has spurred development in the surrounding area, including six hotels, two condominium towers and numerous restaurants and bars. The arena has hosted more than 2,500 events and seats 19,444 for NBA games.

Hornets Sports & Entertainment (HSE) owns the Charlotte Hornets and the Greensboro Swarm (NBA G League) and operates Spectrum Center. Division. Spectrum Center is celebrating its 20th anniversary and reopened Oct. 19, 2025, following a two-phased $245 million renovation. Directly across from Spectrum Center, the state-of-the-art Novant Health Performance Center is being built to enhance player development.
