Metatone’s 2026 Miami Music Week: From Experts Only At Space To Layton Giordani & Max Styler To John Summit Closing Ultra

On New Year’s Day, Metatone co-founders Holt Harmon and Parker Cohen are speaking with their events wing about how to best prepare for the final week of March. John Summit is preparing himself to take the stage at the warehouse on Pier 80 in San Francisco, and the realization that they’re in for another hectic year is settling in. The conversations for these shows started around Art Basel, the team recognizing that Miami Music Week is typically a saturated time of year for the market, but wanting to make a big splash.
Throughout 2025, Metatone snagged talent from the declining Avant Gardner, the company that filed bankruptcy after being unsuccessful in gathering proper permits to reopen the famed Brooklyn Mirage – what was formerly New York City’s premiere club. With the success of John Summit’s Experts Only label and a growing roster of clients, Harmon and Cohen felt it was time to build out an events wing. Consisting of Will Weston (Events Director), Kellon Johnston-Roper (Programming Manager) and Emily Barnes (Event & Social Media Assistant) – all three joining from Avant Gardner at various points throughout the year – the team feels confident about how to handle the beast that sits before them.
While Miami Music Week stands as the biggest marathon in dance music each year, few teams bite of quite as much as Metatone plans to in 2026. They’re kicking the festivities off with a 20-hour Experts Only event at Space on March 24, which overlaps with Layton Giordani’s Mad Minds label party at Factory Town on March 25.
“It’s a really unique turning point for Metatone,” Weston says. “All of the artists within our company are producing their own label shows. After kicking off with our Space takeover for Experts Only, we have Max Styler’s party at Chain Room, we have Layton Giordani’s MADMINDS party, Ranger with Range. I’m excited to take a big swing at music week this year with all the guys.”
Looking down the barrel, the Metatone team knows a lack of sleep will likely be their biggest challenge during Music Week. However, with a robust team, they’re organizing into shifts to ensure one person is available onsite at all times. Styler, Giordani and Ranger will all take place at Factory Town. And, to cap off the week’s festivities, John Summit will close out Ultra Music Festival on Sunday night.
“We’re going to have to do shifts,” Johnston-Roper says. “The Tuesday Space takeover is 20 hours, finishing at 8 p.m. on Wednesday after starting at 11 p.m. on Tuesday. Then, Layton’s event at Factory Town starts at 9 p.m., so there’s an hour gap before the conclusion of Experts and the start of MADMINDS. We’re going to have to figure out who’s staying at Space all day, who’s coming in for the early shift, who’s coming late, and who’s covering the full MADMINDS show. That’s a tough one, for sure.”
While the task is large, Harmon is confident he has the right team to get it done.
“John and Experts Only consumes a lot of my time,” he admits. “In order to be able to do this, I need to have people that are just as dedicated to each of the other artists as I am to John and what he’s doing. I’m able to help be somebody who oversees and helps with the big-picture thinking, but when it comes to the day-to-day grind and actually pulling these things off, it’s important to have this team.”
Weston, Johnston-Roper and Barnes have become an indispensable part of the team, helping with event programming and curation.
“They work with the production teams for each artist to pull off the best look and feel for each of the different brands,” Harmon says. “It’s important to have those people on your staff if you’re looking to do a lot of things at once. Each person’s the master of their own domain, and I get to be there for what they need and be an overseer.”
Folding an events wing into a management company isn’t particularly common, but with John Summit’s Experts Only growing into larger events, it was a necessity. In September 2025, Experts Only took over Randall’s Island in New York City for its inaugural festival – a feat it plans to do once again this upcoming September, with the lineup coming soon. See the Club Space Miami lineup below.
“Instead of trying to pretend that we can all wear a million hats and do a million things, I just looked at the core of our business,” Harmon says. “Even just between the four artists and brands we represent, we’re doing somewhere between 450 and 500 shows a year. If we’re not dedicating time and investing into that, I think we’re doing ourselves a disservice. So we decided to get behind that side of our business and really make it a priority.”
In all, up to 12 people will be working the event on Metatone’s end.
“Our events team is making sure every little detail is tightened up,” Weston says. “We feel ready to complete the mission that week.”
