Native Son Snoop Dogg to Headline Long Beach Amphitheater Grand Opening June 6

Snoop Dogg will be returning to his home LBC turf as the headliner when the brand-new $21 million waterfront Long Beach Amphitheater celebrates its grand opening on Saturday, June 6.
An artist presale begins today (April 1) at 10a PT, followed by a venue presale tomorrow (April 2) at LongBeachAmphitheater.com or Ticketmaster.com. General on-sale begins Friday, April 3 at 10a PT.
The grand opening performance represents a major cultural event for the city, welcoming its hometown ambassador, a cornerstone of West Coast hip-hop.
Ground broke on the 11,000-cap venue last January, with Mayor Rex Richardson and city officials announcing the facility, which will be managed by Legends Global, the Jerry Jones-owned company which operates more than 450 venues around the world, including Brooklyn’s Barclays Center, Milwaukee’s Fiserv Forum and Minneapolis’ US Bank Stadium and Target Center.
Legends Global’s Tra Jones, GM of the building, commented, “Opening our doors with Snoop Dogg is the perfect way to celebrate Long Beach’s rich music legacy and signals our commitment to bringing world-class entertainment to this community. This venue will be built to honor the city’s creative spirit, and there’s no better artist to launch that mission.”
Claypool Gold featuring Primus will follow Snoop into the arena on July 3, followed by Lil Wayne with 2 Chainz on August 1. Other scheduled shows include Toto, Christopher Cross and the Romantics (August 14), Luke Bryan (August 15), 311 and Dirty Heads (August 18), Andrew McMahon (August 22), Nas and the Roots (August 28), Los Angeles Azules (September 5), Deep Purple (September 11), Fiver Finger Death Punch, Cody Jinks and Eve Under Fire (September 18) and Motley Crue, Tesla and Extreme (September 19).
“Long Beach built the culture — and now we’ve built the stage for it,” said Long Beach Mayor Richardson. “The opening of the Long Beach Amphitheater is a defining cultural moment and a historic homecoming. From our neighborhoods to the global stage, Snoop Dogg has always represented this city — and now we welcome him home to open a venue that reflects our culture and captures the vibe that defines Long Beach.”
Snoop Dogg and Warren G are among the OG rappers who represent the LB C, along with punk-rockers like Sublime, Zack de la Rocha and Suburban Lawns. The city has been without an operating live venue since the Long Beach Arena stopped regularly booking musical acts.
Added Richardson”: “The amphitheater represents an investment in our city’s future, to embrace our creative community, to shape how people experience Long Beach for generations to come.”
