For the first time in his touring career, Zach Bryan had to cancel a headlining show. The country superstar was forced to cancel his concert at Tulsa, Oklahoma’s Skelly Field at H.A. Chapman Stadium on Friday, April 3, due to “extreme and dangerous weather.”

Bryan wrote a statement on Instagram April 3 addressed to his “fellow Oklahomans” in a statement on social media that said: “I am being forced by my team to cancel the show tonight due to the threat of extreme and dangerous weather. I’ve never canceled a show in my life but I unfortunately don’t have a choice in the matter.”

The post included a second page showing a text message from one of his team members telling him that they “have no choice but to cancel the show” because “the consensus is that we would be putting people’s safety at risk by trying to put on the show.”

The text also had weather information from a meteorologist stating that the “severe storms” were “capable of gusts in excess of 60 mph, heavy downpours, hail and intense lightning.”

Bryan added a caption to the post saying, “5 years of touring I’ve never cancelled a headlining show. I pissed off plenty of people this morning trying to ‘play anyways. If I had any say in this, things would be different. I apologize and I love all of ya.”

The singer-songwriter, who is currently on his “With Heaven On Tour” trek, was set to play a two-night stand in his home state of Oklahoma. The second night, April 4, went forward as scheduled.

His next concert will be at L&N Feder Credit Union Stadium in Louisville, Kentucky, on April 11, followed by a show at Charlotte’s Bank of America Stadium.

Bryan, who is booked worldwide by WME’s Braeden Rountree, Andrew Colvin and Seth Seigle, is one of country’s biggest stars, selling out venues of all sizes across the globe. The superstar played three shows at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, last July that grossed a whopping $29,291,399 off 168,429 tickets, according to Pollstar Boxoffice.
