Kurt Vile Announces 2026 World Tour, New Album ‘Philadelphia’s been good to me’

Prolific slacker-rock troubadour Kurt Vile has announced a new album, Philadelphia’s been good to me, due out May 29 on Verve Records, and added 2026 tour dates including a headline hometown show at The Dell alongside co-headliners Pavement.
Marking the occasion with the release of lead single “Chance To Bleed,” Kurt Vile continues his run of one of the most prolific and consistent singer-songwriters of his era, combining a laid-back, aw-shucks mood with complex arrangements, clever wordplay and impressive guitar chops to craft ambitious LPs for nearly 20 years now.
“This is my ‘bringing it all back home to Philly’ record,” Vile says. “I’m treating it like my last record. I put everything into it. It’s my best vocal record. It’s my best electric guitar record. It’s my most organic record, made in the comfort of my own zone.”
Largely self-produced, the record sees Vile returning to his home-recording roots while also coming into his own as a producer, the announcement says, implementing gear he could take on the road and use in multiple home studio settings between Los Angeles, Memphis, Athens and his basement home studio in Mt Airy, surrounded by analog gear and inspiration.

“I’ve been waiting for that kinda natural element to show up again in my recordings, like the old home recording days,” he says. “I think I finally caught that again, but in a higher fidelity; it’s never overly polished, but it’s still pretty damn shimmery.”
The announcement includes new tour dates, adding to previously announced summer plans and starting in June 16 at History in Toronto, including markets like Montreal, Cleveland, Chicago, Seattle, Phoenix, Atlanta, Washington, Brooklyn and a full run of UK and European dates taking him into the middle of September. Vile is represented by Ground Control Touring’s Erin Dimenstein.
