FTC Orders StubHub To Pay $10M

The Federal Trade Commission has ordered StubHub to pay $10 million to settle claims it deceived ticketbuyers the federal watchdog announced Thursday.
The FTC said the ticketer violated federal rules requiring that the total price of tickets — inclusive of fees — be advertised.
“The Commission’s Fees Rule makes it very clear that the total price of live-event tickets must be disclosed up-front to enable consumers to make fully informed purchasing decisions,” Christopher Mufarrige, Director of the FTC’s Bureau of Consumer Protection, said in a statement.
The FTC sent a warning letter to StubHub in May 2025 indicating that a number of prices display on its website appeared to violate the then-new rule requiring all-in pricing.
“Specifically, the FTC alleges StubHub failed to provide the total price for tickets in the first three pricing displays on its website,” the commission said. “On the initial two pricing displays, in numerous instances, the advertised price did not include all mandatory fees, and StubHub did not disclose the total price. On the third pricing display, StubHub listed multiple fees and charges but did not disclose the total price.”
StubHub must provide redress to two groups of eligible consumers who bought tickets for live events in the U.S. between May 12 and 14, 2025. The first group includes those where the total price of tickets was not disclosed on the initial pricing display. The second group includes all other consumers who bought tickets during that period.
