Tixel, a global fan-to-fan ticket exchange, and Opendate, an all-in-one software platform for independent venues and promoters, announced a partnership that gives North American indie live entertainment venues a price-capped resale channel.

The integration of both services enables Opendate clients across the U.S. to access Tixel’s end-to-end ticketing and dynamic waitlist—built around verified fan-to-fan transactions at fair, face-value-based prices.

It’s a significant move for Tixel, which expanded into North America last year after launching in Australia nine years ago. The company now has teams operating in the U.S., the United Kingdom and Australia working with thousands of venues, promoters, festivals and artists.

“Independent venues don’t just sell tickets, they build communities. When a fan overpays on a secondary platform, or shows up at the door with a counterfeit, it’s the venue’s reputation taking the hit,” Jason Webb, co-founder and head of the U.S. region for Tixel, said in a statement. “Opendate gives operators more control over how their shows run, and this integration extends that to resale. Now the fan relationship and the data stay with the people who created the demand in the first place.”

With the integration running end-to-end, Tixel automatically imports events from Opendate, and resale transaction data flows back into the Opendate system as a single reporting source. Order confirmation emails include a direct link to list on Tixel.

Tickets sold through the fan-to-fan resale marketplace are verified with Opendate, and they’re voided once a sale is completed. The buyer receives a new ticket with a new barcode in their name, and it carries the same guarantee as buying a ticket from the box office.

Tixel blocks speculative listings, and prices are capped based on the original purchase price, ensuring users a fair transaction.

“Venues deserve real choices in how their tickets move once they leave the box office,” said Eric Tobias, co-founder & CEO of Opendate. “Tixel is a fundamentally different kind of resale partner, one that’s built around the fan relationship and that aligns really nicely with what Opendate is trying to do for independent operators.”

Such a service benefits the venue by reducing no-shows and fake tickets at the door while helping buildings gather cleaner fan insights on every resale buyer.

Seventy-four percent of live event attendees are more likely to purchase tickets when there is a trusted resale option, and that security can accelerate primary sales, according to Tixel.
