Way Out West Sweden Launches Sustainable Merchandise

Way Out West, scheduled to return to Slottsskogen in Gothenburg, Sweden, Aug. 13–15, is launching the Way Out West Market, where the festival’s focus on sustainability meets independent creators.
For several years, Way Out West has taken a restrictive approach to traditional merchandise, with the goal of reducing sales of short-lived products. With Way Out West Market, the festival aims instead to highlight products with a longer lifespan and a clearer connection to craftsmanship and reuse.
Among the vendors on site are O.P. Jewellery, in collaboration with artist Niklas Hallberg; the Cay Collective; GASH; the non-profit organization Stadsmissionen; the city’s long-standing Bengans record store; and the festival’s own merchandise collection.
The market is being held in collaboration with Nordic logistics and postal group Bring, which is offering free shipping to all visitors who make purchases on-site. For the first time, there will also be a package pickup point on the festival grounds, all designed to make it easier for visitors to shop at the festival without having to carry their purchases around the entire time.
The Way Out West Market is set to become a regular feature of the festival. Visitors shouldn’t expect a run-of-the-mill selection, said Way Out West Festival Manager Kimmie Winroth, who admitted that he team considered doing away with festival merchandise altogether a few years ago. “But after establishing a very successful partnership with Stadsmissionen, we changed our minds,” she explained, adding that “Way Out West Market is exactly the kind of initiative that challenges the conventional idea of what festival merchandise can be, with a focus on products designed to last—hopefully a lifetime. Don’t expect to find T-shirts with the lineup on the back here,” says Kimmie Winroth, Festival Manager at Way Out West.”
Way Out West 2026 is promoted by Luger, a Live Nation company since 2008. This year’s lineup features Gorillaz, The Cure, Lorde, Moby, Lily Allen, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Veronica Maggio, Blood Organe, Clipse, Geese, Zara Larsson and many more.
