Music industry veteran Jonathan Shank has joined Live Nation as senior vice president of global programming, where he will focus on expanding family entertainment and non-traditional immersive live formats.

“This is a really exciting opportunity to work alongside Live Nation leadership to build out this vertical and division and help the company excel in areas where there is space to grow,” says Shank, who  will report to Omar Al-joulani, Live Nation President, Touring.

Shank most recently has served as CEO of his own Terrapin Station Entertainment, which he formed in 2020 after spending time at Red Light Management.  Terrapin Station has produced and a variety of touring live productions and immersive experiences featuring popular global intellectual property such as Disney Junior, Gabby’s Dollhouse, Deal Or No Deal and “Baby Shark” brand Pinkfong.

In the newly formed role at Live Nation, Shank retains Terrapin Station Entertainment and the aforementioned projects, although he sold his interest in event producer Black Ink to Sony Masterworks, which was involved in the “Jim Henson’s Labyrinth: In Concert” touring production.

Shank stresses that his role will entail developing and producing a variety of content types globally and including multiple types of entertainment, from music, film, sports and more.

“For me, this is an absolute dream scenario  to have this opportunity and to build, not just domestically in venues, from theaters all the way up to stadiums, also globally,” says Shank. “Non-traditional entertainment is just massive in this experience economy right now. This type of entertainment is what people want to be spending their money on right now and into the future.”
