With an announcement promising “history is coming,” Garth Brooks has unveiled details for the first stop of his new arena trek, “Blame It All On My Roots Tour.” The outing is described as “a full-scale return to the arenas that made him a legend, featuring the return of the iconic drum pod and the production that changed live music forever.”

It all starts next month in Indianapolis, Indiana, with two nights at Gainbridge Fieldhouse Aug. 21-22.

Today’s announcement explains that the tour harkens back to Brooks’ “Drum Pod” arena tour in 1996, which resulted in recordings that became the wildly popular live album Double Live. That era also saw Brooks win back-to-back CMA Entertainer of the Year Awards and two Artist of the Decade honors.

“Going back into the arenas is about putting the stadium show in a box,” Brooks said in a statement. “The excitement gets multiplied by the intimacy. Every seat is a great seat. This is personal.”

The upcoming tour promises to be accompanied by live recordings, with an announcement adding that the trek “will serve as the foundation for Killer Live, a groundbreaking new approach to live recording that continues Brooks’s tradition of capturing history in real time.”

All tickets go on sale Friday, July 17, at 10 a.m. ET at www.ticketmaster.com/garthbrooks or through the Ticketmaster app. There are no presales or advance box office sales.

Brooks’ tour dates are booked by WME.  He’s managed by Bob Doyle.

Reports submitted to Pollstar Boxoffice for Brooks include two shows at Milwaukee’s Summerfest June 16-17 that sold a total of 44,301 tickets and grossed more than $10 million.
