Dutch Barrier Services Introduces New Products At Denmark’s Roskilde Festival

Dutch Barrier Services (DBS) has designed and manufactured three new barrier products to expand the range of specialist safety barriers and to meet the needs of festivals.
The new products could be seen for the first time at this year’s Roskilde Festival, Denmark, where DBS supplied barriers to the Orange, Arena and Laguna stages. It marked the first time DBS supplied the famous event, and it delivered over 1,500 meters of barriers in total.
The new products include an improved Security Walk Way that creates a continuous security step behind the barrier. The new unit is also smaller in size.
“The previous design was one meter deep behind the barrier, which meant that the barrier had to be further from the stage, or larger gaps between the inner and outer units in the secondary barrier. The new system takes the same space as a normal barrier, allowing more square meterage for the audience, whilst maintaining the same working area for crew, security and first aid staff, with a safer working raised platform,” a press release announcing DBS’s new range of products reads.

The so-called All Terrain Barrier offers improved flexibility to follow the terrain, “because no festival site is totally flat.” This was achieved by incorporating a bespoke floor plate with two horizontal hinges. Roskilde Festival was the first time this certified product was deployed at a large scale, and, according to DBS, |it worked 100% as expected and the client was really happy with it.”
In practical terms, this means that fewer wood pads to fill gaps underneath the barrier line are needed, creating a safer, stronger barrier line to traverse uneven ground, reducing potential trip hazards.
Last but not least, DBS has developed new Bar Barrier corners, creating “a continuous serving surface with no gaps on corners, giving an expanded serving area, so the public could order anywhere at the bar.”
The team at DBS also manufacture black barriers in case a festival prefers that look in front of the stage. DBS account manager Stanley Jilesen commented, “I know its only barriers, but if possible we want to make it look nice.”
