Caroline Rose Announces New Album, Adds Fall Appearances 

Caroline Rose had announced details for their new album, along with a run of in-store performances and signings. The appearances follow Rose’s previously announced tour dates supporting Modest Mouse. 

Gentling the Horse at the Walt Whitman Mall is due out Oct. 23rd via SUCK records, marking the debut of Rose’s own imprint. The album includes the new single “Chow Mein,” out now, as well as the longtime fan-favorite, “Yip Yip Yow,” which has become a Top 25 Billboard AAA and Top 25 Mediabase AAA hit.

Rose’s PR team describes the album as pairing “sharply observed, memoiristic songwriting with expansive guitar textures that render the everyday with violent clarity and mythic scale.” This week’s announcement adds, “Beneath its melodic sweep and signature hooks runs a current of violence and American dream leakage. It’s Ennio Morricone with an AR15: surf guitars, spaghetti westerns, and suburban dread colliding until they become their own sharp vernacular.” 

Of the new new single, Rose comments: “I relate to characters who are a little strange, who are outsiders, who seem to fuck up a lot or find themselves in awkward situations. Most of these stories are just pulled directly from scenes in my own life, so the character is basically always some version of myself. This is a story about trying too hard to be cool and act normal, but everything is going wrong.”

After wrapping up a series of pop-up shows at independent spaces, featuring zero ticketing fees for fans, Rose will return to the road next month to support Modest Mouse. The in-store performances and signings start with an Oct. 26 appearance at New York’s Rough Trade and then she heads to Europe. Check out the tour routing below, along with “Chow Mein.” 

Rose is managed by Friendly Announcer’s Ari Fouriezos. Their tour dates are booked in Europe by ROAM’s Stu Kennedy and the rest of the world is handled by High Road Touring’s Frank Riley and Al Marano.
