Mexican Music Festival BelicoFest Cancels San Jose Edition

BelicoFest, a single-day festival celebrating Mexican culture, announced it has canceled its inaugural San Jose event at PayPal Park scheduled for Aug. 29.
For The Culture, organizers of the event led by Ramiro Bojorquez and Andrés Charvel, didn’t specify a reason for the cancellation but said it was a “difficult decision.” The single-day festival featured Tito Double P, Gerardo Ortíz, Santa Fe Klan, Herencia de Patrones, Régulo Caro, Estevie and more.
“We know how much our community was looking forward to celebrating with us, and we don’t make this decision lightly,” the festival said in its statement. “Our priority is delivering the best possible show, and we believe that canceling next week’s performance is the right decision to ensure we can do that. … Thank you for your patience, your support and for riding with us. La cultura sigue.”
Organizers added that they are exploring new dates and that all tickets will be refunded.
The event originated in Phoenix and expanded into California this summer with its first event in Los Angeles at BMO Stadium with a similar lineup. The July 12 event lined up with World Cup festivities in Southern California, and the San Jose edition was supposed to be a historic one for the venue. PayPal Park, home of Major League Soccer’s San Jose Earthquakes since 2015, has never hosted a live music event, and venue executives had expressed excitement for the show.
