AEG, Archer Announce Plans For Air Taxis At L.A. LIVE

Los Angelenos will soon be able to fly to L.A. LIVE. Archer, an aerospace and defense technology company, and live entertainment leader AEG announced a multiyear partnership to develop a vertiport for air taxis at the 4 million-square-foot district in downtown L.A.

Archer’s air taxi network is adding its first downtown L.A. vertiport—a vertical takeoff and landing site for electric air taxis—allowing fans, artists and guests to use the service to and from L.A. LIVE, which includes Crypto.com Arena, The Novo and Peacock Theater.

Archer is the official air taxi provider of the LA28 Games and Team USA, and downtown Los Angeles will serve as a central hub for 18 Olympic and Paralympic sports. Archer is celebrating the partnership by displaying its Midnight aircraft and unveiling its Team USA livery at L.A. LIVE today, and the aircraft will remain on public display through Aug. 25.

With its local point-to-point urban air taxi network, Archer aims to help people move across the sprawling L.A. landscape in 10-20 minutes aboard Midnight, reducing their commute. Archer previously announced vertiports at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, the University of Southern California and Hollywood Burbank. The company recently acquired Hawthorne Airport, which will serve as its central operational hub.

“We see this as a one-of-a-kind opportunity to add a flagship downtown location to our planned Los Angeles air taxi network ahead of the LA28 Games,” added Archer Founder and CEO Adam Goldstein.

Midnight aircraft produces less noise than a traditional helicopter and zero operating emissions, according to Archer. The air taxi is built with redundant systems, allowing Archer to target safety at levels comparable to commercial airliners.

AEG and Archer completed the initial feasibility study for the new site, including land-use and airspace reviews, power availability and community impact. The companies are currently reviewing operational approach and guest experience.
