Coliseo GNP Seguros has found its star for its grand opening. Guadalajara’s new music venue will open its doors Sept. 22 with Grammy Award-winning singer Michael Bublé, who will help usher in a new era in the western Mexican state of Jalisco.

In partnership with Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara and GNP Seguros, Mexican promoter OCESA renovated Estadio 3 de Marzo—which was home to the local university’s professional soccer team for decades and hosted major acts including Luis Miguel, Shakira, Karol G, Roger Waters and Linkin Park—and converted it into a live music venue that meets today’s standards for fans, artists and production crews.

Coliseo GNP Seguros will strengthen Guadalajara’s position as a live music market in the LATAM region, giving international artists extend their stay in Mexico.

Bublé, a global star with nearly 15 million monthly listeners on Spotify, is the first artist for its opening season, which includes shows from Mexican star Natanael Cano, Grammy-winning singer Alejandro Sanz, Gorillaz and Yuridia. Rod Stewart was originally scheduled to open Coliseo GNP Seguros, but he canceled his remaining dates after a medical procedure.

Tickets for the inaugural concert go on sale via a Banamex presale Sept. 1 at 2 p.m., followed by the general onsale on Sept. 2. Visit coliseognpseguros.com for more information.

Bublé is booked by Creative Artists Agency in the U.S., South America and China and by Paquin Artists Agency in Canada. Bruce Allen Talent manages the artist’s career.
