La Discothèque Turns 10

Ten years ago, La Discothèque was founded in Manchester by Kat Warburton, with a glittering vision to reimagine the energy of New York’s disco heyday for the 21st-century dancefloor. Debuting its first show Nov. 12, 2016 at Manchester’s Albert Hall, La Discothèque now marks its 10th anniversary with two major venue takeovers this November.

The Manchester date on Nov. 7 marks a significant milestone for the brand as it makes its debut at The Warehouse Project. Taking over all five rooms of Depot Mayfield, the event will be La Discothèque’s biggest homecoming show to date, bringing its decade-long journey back to the city where it began. The celebrations will then take over three rooms at London’s Drumsheds on Friday, Nov. 13.

Speaking on the milestone, founder Kat Warburton commented, “To celebrate this momentous 10-year milestone, we’re hosting two huge anniversary shows, one week apart, with The Warehouse Project representing the North and Drumsheds in London hosting the South.

Manchester and London have both played an integral role in the La Discothèque journey, so it felt only right to celebrate our tenth birthday with two official parties in these iconic venues, falling between the anniversary of our very first event on 12th November 2016.

I feel incredibly blessed to have taken La Discothèque to its tenth year. Over the past decade, we’ve built something truly special, driven by an incredible community that has supported us every step of the way. We can’t wait to bring everyone together this November to celebrate ten years of La Discothèque in the way it deserves.”

The Manchester celebration brings together a wide-ranging lineup featuring Basement Jaxx (DJ Set), Groove Armada (DJ Set), Annie Mac, Dombresky presents Disco Dom, DJ Paulette, Gerd Janson b2b Krystal Klear, Jayda G, Hunee b2b Luke Una, CC:DISCO! and more across the Depot, Concourse, Archive, Vault and Star & Garter 54.

Meanwhile, the London event at Drumsheds will feature Purple Disco Machine, Folamour, Dan Shake and the return of the La Discothèque Orchestra. The program also includes a room curated by Jayda G, featuring Ron Trent, Jennifer Loveless and Tarzsa, as well as Heléna Star, Daisybelle and more.

Inspired by the electricity of Paradise Garage and the glamour of Studio 54, La Discothéque has grown from an intimate party into an event series “where individuality reigns supreme and every dancefloor feels like a homecoming,” according to its makers. Guests can expect a “high-energy atmosphere, an explosion of vibrant disco energy, high-glamour theatrics, and extravagant production from the moment they step inside,” all in addition to lineups uniting established pioneers and rising talent.

Having established itself across London and Ibiza, La Discothéque is planning to expand into North America, Europe and Asia, with founder Kat Warburton leading as CEO.
