Music Votes Coalition Announces First Wave of Partners & Details For Webinar

Music Votes — the new coalition bringing together the music industry’s nonprofits in voting and activism spaces — has unveiled its first wave of partners featuring concert promoters, agents and managers along with venues, artist and songwriter organizations including AEG Presents, High Road Touring, National Independent Talent Organization (NITO), and Wasserman Music.

The July 29 announcement from Music Votes explains that the partners will be participating in the coalition’s three steps to “solve voting for all that music touches: registration, ensuring the correct voter I.D. where applicable and turning out.” The list of partners also includes Artist for Artist, Artist Rights Alliance, ASM Global, Bandsintown, Downtown, ECHOETTE: Sound + Vision, Fenway Recordings, Music Business Association, Music Managers Forum-US, Redeye, Songwriters of North America (SONA) and Vector Management.

Music Votes, which is described as the first-ever industry-wide voter engagement coalition, was announced in June and assembled and led by the Music Sustainability Alliance (MSA). As previously reported, Music Votes’ initial nonprofit partners include #iVoted, Black Voters Matter,, Grounded.org, HeadCount, Hip Hop Caucus, Music Declares Emergency US, NOISE FOR NOW, Pizza to the Polls, RAMPD (Recording Artists and Music Professionals with Disabilities), REVERB, Rock The Vote, ShowUp, Support+Feed, The Ally Coalition, TradesForce, VoteRiders and Well Dunn Foundation.

In addition to focusing on getting out the vote, the coalition provides resources for folks in the music industry to get involved in areas such as climate, disability culture, eliminating gun violence, gender equity, LGBTQ+ rights and music policy, as well racial and reproductive Justice.

The newest members to have joined the coalition include DJ at the Polls, BallotReady, Digital Democracy Project, Future of Music Coalition, Disabled Music Fans Collective, Artist For Action, Women in Music, Keychange U.S., SANKOFA and The Equity Alliance.
“We are honored to have such amazing support, both from our coalition members, and our new partners,” Eleanor Anderson, MSA Board Member said in a statement. “It is important for the music industry to present a unified front, and the support we have from labels, promoters, venues and more shows that the music industry is ready to mobilize and encourage everyone to exercise their right to vote.”

Music Votes is hosting a free webinar on Aug. 1 at 2 p.m. ET / 11 a.m. PT to share how the music industry can help increase voter participation in the U.S. November election. The webinar will be led by Bill Werde, the director of Syracuse University’s Bandier Program for Recording and Entertainment Industries. Folks can RSVP here.
