Eagles Begin Sphere Residency
Eagles opened their long-awaited 20-night run at Las Vegas’ Sphere Friday.
“Good evening, ladies and gentlemen!” Don Henley said to the crowd, according to the Las Vegas Review–Journal. “Welcome … To whatever this is!”
The two-hour show runs through 50 years of the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Famers’ hits. The debut show included a tribute to late songwriter J.D. Souther who died Sept. 17 and who helped pen many of the band’s biggest hits including “Best of My Love,” “New Kid in Town,” and “Heartache Tonight,” which the band performed.
Among the visuals, according to the Review-Journal, is a cinematic depiction of the story and characters with the iconic hit “Hotel California.” “Life In The Fast Lane” features a speedy driving tour of The Strip.
Joining Henley in the band’s current iteration is Joe Walsh, Timothy B. Schmit, Vince Gill and Deacon Frey, Glenn Frey’s son. Baz Halpin, who helped design the “Eras Tour” and Usher’s Super Bowl halftime show, is the creative director.
Eagles Live Nation-promoted Sphere run continues on select dates through Jan. 25.
CAA’s Rob Light and Mitch Rose are the band’s agents. Their long-time manager is Irving Azoff (co-founder of Oak View Group, Pollstar‘s parent group).
