CAA has signed Mexican comedian, actress, producer, and writer Sofia Niño De Rivera. As an announcement from CAA points out, her “comedy style is distinguished by its sharp honesty, addressing topics such as social relationships, female identity, politics, and Mexican traditions.”

The agency adds that Rivera is a pioneer of stand-up in Mexico and Latin America and has inspired a new generation of comedians.

She released her third special on Prime Video in 2022, “Sofía Niño de Rivera: Lo Volvería a Hacer.” This followed her 2018 special on Netflix, “Sofia Niño de Rivera: Natural Selection,” which was filmed at the Auditorio Nacional in Mexico City in front of more than 10,000 fans.

She made history with her debut Netflix special, 2015’s “Sofia Niño de Rivera: Exposed,” as the first Mexican woman to release a comedy special in Spanish on the platform.

Most recently, she was featured in the 2023 Prime docuseries “Libre De Reir.” The TV mini series features Rivera leading a stand-up comedy workshop in a Mexican prison, encouraging the inmates to turn their personal stories into comedy.

Her film credits also include appearing in Eugenio Derbez’s series “They Came At Night.”

Over the years her accolades include winning the Stand-Up Comedy Award in 2015 and the Comedy Award in 2016.
