Patti Smith Announces ‘Horses’ 50th Anniversary Tour 

Patti Smith is celebrating the golden anniversary of her acclaimed debut album, Horses, by performing the LP in full on a tour that’s booked through Europe and the U.S.

Following a run of European dates in July with her quintet, the Horses 50th anniversary tour starts with an Oct. 6 show at Dublin, Ireland’s 3Arena. Stops in Europe include Madrid, Bergamo, London, Brussels, Oslo and Paris.

Smith brings the tour to the U.S. in November, kicking things off with a Nov. 10 performance at Seattle’s Paramount Theatre. Stops in the U.S. include Oakland, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, Boston, D.C. and Philadelphia.

Smith is booked by High Road Touring in North America and Primary Talent International in Europe.

Horses was selected by the Library of Congress for preservation into the National Recording Registry in 2019.

The write-up by the Library Of Congress says: “Before recording this proto-punk classic, Patti Smith and her band had honed the tunes in a triumphant run of shows at New York’s CBGB’s. In the studio, producer John Cale helped the band to further refine the selections in a process that Smith remembers as not always pleasant, but as greatly beneficial to the final product. Smith’s background as a rock critic and poet are equally in evidence on this record which includes re-imaginings of such oldies as ‘Gloria’ and ‘Land, of a thousand dances’ with the addition of Smith’s provocative and uncompromising lyrics.”
