January wasn’t an easy month for the entertainment capital of the world. Los Angeles, the city that serves as headquarters for many of music’s biggest companies, experienced multiple devastating wildfires that left beloved communities in ashes.

Before firefighters could even contain the blazes, the music industry was committed to finding ways to help the City of Angels rebuild. Among those answering the call was Allison Statter, founder and CEO of Blended Strategy Group.

“The fires didn’t only affect one area of L.A., but so many with different backgrounds,” the lifelong Angeleno said. “At the end of the day, I’ve always seen music as a unifier, and that’s exactly what FireAid was.”

Statter dedicated her time and resources to work on the benefit concert, taking on marketing, communication and social media strategy for the massive benefit concert that took place simultaneously at Kia Forum and Intuit Dome with more than 30 superstar performers. It was a massive success, garnering more than 50 million viewers across 28 streaming platforms and raising more than $100 million.

That’s the kind of work Statter relishes: building partnerships to find alternative revenue streams and boost visibility. And she’s done it her way with BSG, a female-run business with more than 90% of employees being women, working with clients like Coca-Cola and Gwen Stefani’s GXVE Beauty.

“It’s easy to look at successful artists or business owners and assume they achieved overnight success,” she said. “But in reality, most have put in countless hours of work, faced rejection and experienced failures along the way. … And if there is something that just doesn’t work for you – whether it’s a career path or education track, don’t be afraid to switch it up. Before going into music management, I had dropped out of college and worked as a makeup artist because that’s what I thought my calling was at the time – but, I always had a vision for brands and how leveraging talent would change the way brands show up in pop culture. From there, the rest is really history!”
