FAV SHOW OF 2024 | Bourbon & Beyond. “It’s more than just music, bourbon, and great food – it’s a celebration of everything I love, with the people who mean the most.”

To deliver some of the country’s most beloved festivals at a consistently high level requires a lot more than just a great brand.
The team delivering them is everything, and their enthusiasm for the job will be felt by the artists on stage and the fans. Therefore, says Danny Wimmer Presents GM and chief marketing officer Chamie McCurry, strengthening the workplace culture is just as important as elevating the festivals in the promoter’s portfolio. McCurry has succeeded at both.
Bourbon & Beyond and Inkcarceration were both nominated for Pollstar Festival of the Year; and the former took home the IEBA Festival of the Year honor. On top of that, Welcome to Rockville became the largest rock festival in North America, welcoming over 200,000 fans from around the world to Daytona Beach, Florida – “a testament to the passion of our fans and the relentless work of our team,” says McCurry. At the same time, DWP retained its Great Place to Work status for the third consecutive year, confirming the company’s dedication to offer a thriving workplace.
After joining DWP in 2019 as chief marketing officer, McCurry recently took on the position of general manager, a role that allows her to be “even more hands-on in shaping the future of our events and the company. Even after 25 years in the industry,” she says, “I’m still learning every day, and that’s what keeps me motivated. Stepping into new adventures, expanding my perspective, and pushing for the next level is what drives me — I thrive on the challenge.”
Given her remarkable career, which includes running her own event services company, as well as becoming vice president of marketing at AEG Presents, her advice carries weight.
To those seeking to set foot in this biz, she says: “Stay true to your passion and seek out a mentor who not only believes in you but also challenges you. Growth happens outside your comfort zone, so embrace discomfort as part of the process. The right mentor will push you, question you, and help you see opportunities you might have missed – all while supporting your journey.”
