When Pollstar got a hold of Coldplay tour manager Marguerite Nguyen, it was her first weekend off in two months. It’s surely a welcome break for Nguyen, considering Coldplay has been busy making history with its multiyear “Music of the Spheres World Tour,” which, with dates booked into September of 2025, will total 225 dates and has already sold more tickets than any artist on a single tour, grossing $1 billion and counting.

The tour is making history in the sustainability front as well, with Coldplay in 2024 announcing that direct CO2 emissions from the first two years of “Music of the Spheres” were 59% less than its previous stadium tour – exceeding its 2021 pledge to reduce carbon emissions by 50%.

“It’s incredible to play a small part of this amazing tour,” Nguyen says. “The band is going places and doing things that no one else is. I really love the one tree planted for every ticket sold [initiative]. And there are no plastic bottles backstage. You really can survive without plastic water bottles.”

Nguyen has been working with Coldplay since 2008, as tour manager since 2012.

After all those years, Nguyen says it’s still all about the joy of live music.

“I don’t mean to sound corny, but music is the international language of love,” Nguyen told Pollstar when interviewed for Coldplay’s 2024 cover story. “It crosses all political and religious boundaries and moves your heart and your soul. The band and crew have really created something so special with this show. The balloons and confetti still make me smile to this day.”
After Coldplay played the biggest performances of its career – with Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, India, hosting more than 111,000 fans each night Jan. 25-26 – the tour will continue in April.

“We have another full year ahead of us,” Nguyen says. “I’m looking forward to opening the new stadium in Hong Kong (the band hasn’t been back since ‘Viva’ in 2008 – which I was there for). I’m looking forward to being back Stateside this summer (we do a lot of shows overseas). And of course, doing 10 hometown shows at Wembley Stadium. I mean, who does that?!”
