It comes as no surprise that OCESA’s Itzel González names Hera Festival as the best live event she attended in the last year. The inaugural Hera – which González co-created – made history in August 2024 as the first major festival staged in Mexico with an all-female lineup. The event took place at Mexico City’s Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez with a lineup featuring a mix of Latinx and international artists including Camila Cabello, Danna Paola, Demi Lovato, Daniela Spalla, Evanescence, Kesha, Maria Becerra, Tash Sultana, Ximena Sariñana, Bomba Estéreo and more.
“It was truly inspiring to see female artists, producers, and creatives take center stage, creating an unforgettable experience for our audience. This festival was not just about music; it was about empowerment, visibility, and breaking barriers,” González says.
She adds, “The Hera Festival was a project that required immense effort, as it aimed to organize an event featuring 100% female talent. However, on the day of the festival, everything came together perfectly. The energy and positive vibes among the audience, musicians, staff, and backstage crew were truly remarkable. A safe space was created, one that not only celebrated women-made music but also honored the hard work of everyone who believed in the project and committed to its growth.”
Another significant milestone for González was the publication of OCESA’s first sustainability report. “From reducing our environmental footprint to implementing green initiatives at our venues, this report marks the beginning of a journey toward a more conscious future,” she said. “We are excited to continue building on these efforts and setting new standards for sustainability in live events.”
An initiative close to González’s heart is the VIBRA Program, which just celebrated its first anniversary and has revolutionized how people with hearing disabilities experience live music by offering sensory vests and sign language interpretation at OCESA shows.
“Seeing the joy and excitement of our audiences as they ‘feel’ the music in a new way has been incredibly rewarding. Inclusion is at the core of what we do, and VIBRA is proof that music truly belongs to everyone,” González says.
