Universal Attractions Signs Booker T. Jones

Universal Attractions has signed musician, songwriter and record producer Booker T. Jones for exclusive representation, marking a homecoming for the legendary Memphis artist. Jones originally joined the agency in 1967. UAA’s Ryan Slone will act as responsible agent.
“I’m beyond thrilled to continue the legacy of Booker T. Jones, whose contributions to modern music are immeasurable. It’s an honor to be working with such a legend,” Sloan said in a statement.
Jones added, “This feels like coming home. Universal Attractions looked after me when I first began touring, and I feel that same excitement now!”
Jones, who is known as “the architect of the iconic Memphis soul sound,” formed the band Booker T. & the M.G.’s in 1962, with the band’s Green Onions released that same year. The title track was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1999 and in 2012, the Library of Congress added the track to the National Recording Registry. The tune was featured on Rolling Stone‘s “Top 500 Greatest Songs of All Time” lists in both 2004 and 2024.
Jones appeared on over 600 Stax recordings as the leader of the renowned Stax Records house band, with today’s announcement from Universal Attractions noting that he helped “to establish the enduring legacy of the signature southern soul sound … exemplified in hits by artists such as Otis Redding, Albert King, Sam & Dave, and Carla Thomas.”
Jones’ notable production credits include “Ain’t No Sunshine” by Bill Withers and Willie Nelson’s five-time platinum album Stardust.
Over the years Jones has collaborated with big stars across a variety of genres including Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Ray Charles, Eric Clapton, Elton John, The Roots, Matt Berninger of The National and Hozier among others.
Booker T. & the M.G.’s was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1992 and received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2007.
In 2019 Jones released his memoir “Time is Tight: My Life, Note by Note,” as well as the solo album Note by Note. His solo catalog includes two Grammy award wins for Best Pop Instrumental Album: 2009’s Potato Hole and 2011’s The Road From Memphis.
Last year Jones took the stage for 30 performances including appearances at festivals including the TD Victoria International JazzFest, the Calgary Folk Music Festival, and the 25th Edmonton Blues Festival. Reports submitted to Pollstar Boxoffice for Jones include a Jan. 27, 2024, show at Yoshi’s Oakland in California that sold 615 tickets and grossed $31,335.
His upcoming schedule includes a June 7 show at The Smith Center in Las Vegas and a June 20 stop at the Empire Theatre in San Antonio, Texas.
He is managed by 118 West Management’s Olivia Jones.
