Ozzy Osbourne’s Final Show With Black Sabbath Raises ‘A Ton Of Money’

Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne’s final gig at Villa Park in Birmingham, England, was a massive success, raising “a ton of money” to benefit the Cure Parkinson’s organization, Acorns Children’s Hospice and Birmingham Children’s Hospital.
With more than 40,000 fans in attendance and over 3 million who paid to watch the livestream, the money raised last weekend was in the six figures.
Event curator and musician Tom Morello posted on Instagram that more than $190 million will be donated, but Sharon Osbourne, who was essential to organizing the concert, and promoter Live Nation have yet to release an official number. Morello wrote a lengthy caption thanking all the guests who showed up for the special occasion, including actors Jason Momoa and Jack Black, Ronnie Wood of The Rolling Stones and Tool’s Adam Jones.
“Thank you Ozzy Osbourne for trusting me to be the Musical Director of the ‘Back To The Beginning’ show,” wrote Morello, known best as the guitarist for Rage Against the Machine. “It was over a year of hard work but heavy metal was the music that made me love music and it was a labor or love. We raised a ton of money for a great cause and so many musicians and bands and fans all over the world paid tribute to one of the all time greats.”
It was a hometown show and farewell for the 76-year-old singer, who went public with his Parkinson’s disease diagnosis in 2020 and sang while sitting on a black throne. He grew up just a few miles away from the soccer stadium and performed four songs with his Black Sabbath bandmates as well as a solo set, appropriately concluding his set with “Mama I’m Coming Home.”
Osbourne was a touring force before his back issues and Parkinson’s diagnosis. He headlined festivals like Welcome To Rockville, Corona Hell & Heaven in Mexico City and Ozzfest at Kia Forum in 2018, which featured Rob Zombie and grossed $1,219,740 off 12,465 tickets sold, according to Pollstar Boxoffice.
The heavy metal star is repped by Creative Artists Agency worldwide and managed by his wife, Sharon Osbourne.
