The Damned Cancel Tour Dates Due To ‘Unexpected And Catastrophic Event At A Member’s Home’

London punk band The Damned canceled three live performances scheduled for this weekend, including in Seattle on July 25 and Vancouver on July 26 and 28, as well as a performance at Portland’s Project Pabst festival, citing an “unexpected and catastrophic event at a member of The Damned’s home.”
The shows were scheduled to wrap up The Damned’s North American tour, with their next date taking place in Lokeren, Belgium, on Aug. 4. The Project Pabst festival in Portland added FIDLAR to the lineup following The Damned’s cancellation.
“We are very sorry to have to cancel our Seattle, Portland and Vancouver shows this weekend, due to an unexpected and catastrophic event at a member of the Damned’s Home,” the band said in a statement posted to social media. “We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your understanding. Refunds will be available for our two headline shows at your point of purchase.”
No details of the event leading to the cancellation have been made public.
The Damned first formed in 1976 and announced plans to perform at Wembley Stadium next year for their 50th anniversary. The group made waves as the first U.K. punk band to release a single with “New Rose” and the first U.K. punk album with Damned Damned Damned in 1977. In March, the band’s founding guitarist, Brian James, who performed on the group’s first two albums, passed away. The group’s most recent album Darkadelic, arrived in 2023, with vocalist David Vanian serving as the only consistent member of the group.
The Damned is booked by Paladin Artists, Inc.’s Dave Kaplan in North America and by UTA’s Neil Warnock and Paul Ryan in Europe. They’re managed by Raw Power Management. With 79 headline reports submitted to Pollstar’s Boxoffice dating back to 1999, the band has sold 58,710 tickets, grossing $1.7 million.
