Alizé: First European Cirque du Soleil Residency Sells 80,000-Plus Tickets Ahead Of Previews

Alizé, Cirque du Soleil’s first residency in Europe, is officially launching Nov. 20, with previews starting Oct. 24.
The Live Nation produced spectacle has already sold more than 80,000 tickets for the show, which will take over Berlin’s Theater am Potsdamer Platz. Each year, there’ll be some 400,000 tickets available, so Alizé is off to a splendid start.
European audiences have enjoyed many a Cirque du Soleil shows in the past – Alizé marks the 54th original production from the Canadian company – but there’s never been a residency setting up shop on the continent.
Co-produced and presented by Live Nation, the show has been designed to fit perfectly into Berlin’s Theater am Potsdamer Platz.
As usual with a Cirque du Soleil production, fans can expect acrobatic feats, but also wonders of invisibility, levitation, and holographic technologies, transforming the theater into a surreal, poetic universe where the boundaries between reality and imagination blur.
Getting the Theater am Potsdamer Platz to meet the needs of this komplex production took almost three months, and required more than 60 technicians, according to a press release from Live Nation GSA.
43 artists/acrobats from 21 countries are part of the Alizé ensemble, and the creative team is made up of Valentine Losseau & Raphaël Navarro (director, author & magic designer); Marion Motin (associate director); Emilie Emiroglou (creative director); Chloe Lamford (set designer); Lizzie Frankl (props designer); Sébasatien Dionne (costume designer); Maryse Gosselin (make-up artist); Émilie Thierrien & Jérōme Lebault (acrobatic designers); Pierre Masse & Ewen Seagle (acrobatic equipment designers); Martin Labrecque & Nicolas Decoteaux (lighting co-designers); Jean-Michel Caron (sound designer); Philippe Brault & Raphael Reed (composers); Martin Dignard (line producer); Anastasia Kitsos (production director); Simon Larose Lachance (technical director).
