Nick Byer Upped To General Manager At Desert Diamond Arena

Desert Diamond Arena and Legends Global announced the promotion of Nick Byer to General Manager of the venue. A 17-year veteran in the sports and live entertainment industry, Byer’s career includes stints in five arenas and three club venues.

Byer had served as assistant general manager at Desert Diamond Arena since 2023, where he was a key player in a significant $42 million renovation, and helped manage the day-to-day operation of the venue with a focus on event services, operations, programming and ancillary revenue generation. The multipurpose venue sits on 13.5 acres northwest of Phoenix in the city of Glendale, AZ. The venue, which anchors the 223-acre Westgate Entertainment District, opened in 2003 and is managed by Legends Global.

Prior to joining the Desert Diamond Arena team, Byer was the general manager for House of Blues Boston, where he led the venue to a No. 2 ranking in the world for tickets sold in 2021, followed by a No. 1 ranking in 2022.

In his role as general manager, Byer will oversee day-to-day operations at the 19,000-capacity venue, including the overall management, promotion and operation of the facility.  Responsibilities include purchasing, booking, marketing, finance, human resources, food and beverage, box office, advertising, production, maintenance, parking, security, emergency and crisis management.

“Byer has not only played a pivotal role in the venue’s recent transformation, but he also helped drive operational performance, while enhancing the guest experience and strengthening community and partner relationships,” stated Brett Stefansson, regional vice president, Legends Global in a release. “His leadership as assistant general manager positioned the arena for long-term success during a period of heightened transformation and growth, and we are excited to see him take on this new role at the venue.”
