FROM FAMILY VALUES TOUR TO BOOKING CHAPPELL ROAN

Bewers Anna

Anna Bewers grew up on MTV2 and VHS tapes of live shows like the “Family Values Tour.” As soon as she was old enough, she started going out to concerts in London as often as she could afford. “My first show,” she recalls, “was at the Astoria, and I couldn’t imagine a better place to start this journey.”

For many young music fans, money was an issue when deciding which records to buy. And while concert tickets have only gotten more expensive over the years, recorded music is as cheap as ever. This combination forms one of the biggest opportunities in live today, as Bewers explains: “When we were growing up, you’d set off Napster to download one song while you went to school, and pray it had finished by the time you got home. Or you took a risk on a £17 import CD from HMV. You were always limited by money. Now kids can access anything, and to them an album that is 20 years old is still new music. Deftones, who were already one of the greatest guitar bands in the world, have now been discovered by a whole new generation, and I love to see it.”

At the same time, a new act can gain momentum faster than ever, like Chappell Roan, whose meteoric rise landed her on Pollstar’s June 2024 cover. “My fellow agent Adele Slater and I truly believed Chappell Roan could headline the biggest festivals in Europe before she’d even played a show in most of the markets. The show she brought over this year was absolutely next level, and we couldn’t be prouder to have worked with the entire team on it. And a thank you to the promoters who trusted us early on,” says Bewers, who considers herself “lucky to have worked with my colleagues on some incredible artists over the past year. Ravyn Lenae, Dijon, Viagra Boys, and we just signed Incubus, who I grew up listening to. I’m excited about Wasserman Music generally … I’m grateful to be here and I feel at home! It’s very collaborative, everything is shared, the losses and the wins. But more often it’s wins.”
