The Black Music Action Coalition (BMAC), Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis announced that applications are now being accepted for the fourth annual BMAC x Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis Music Maker Grants program. The grants are earmarked for emerging Black music talent across the U.S.

The 2026 recipients will be announced and grants will be awarded at the BMAC x Jam & Lewis Music Maker Dinner on Jan. 28 in Los Angeles, which is hosted by BMAC, Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis and Victoria Monét, with special guests.

The yearly Music Maker awards launched in 2023 in honor of Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis’s induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, and each year since, the Music Maker program has provided financial support, mentorship, studio time and networking opportunities to Black music producers and songwriters.

The commitment is to support emerging talent and empower their success. By example, 2024 Music Maker, Mikaili Ektor, co-produced Summer Walker’s song “Number One” featuring Brent Faiyez on her album “Finally Over It,” released in November via LVRN/Interscope Records.

“BMAC is honored to once again stand alongside the legendary Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis to open more doors for the next generation of Black songwriters and producers,” states Willie “Prophet” Stiggers, BMAC co-founder, President and CEO in a release. “The BMAC x Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis Music Maker Grant is about more than a check, it’s about access, mentorship and long-term opportunity. Together, we’re committed to making sure these brilliant young Music Makers are not only heard, but protected, empowered and positioned to build sustainable careers that change the culture and the business for the better.”

Applicants are available at www.bmacoalition.org.

BMAC is an advocacy organization formed to address systemic racism within the music business on behalf of Black artists, songwriters, producers, managers, agents, executives, lawyers and other industry professionals. Since its inception, BMAC has provided direct economic relief and empowerment through partnerships with the Academy of Country Music via the On Ramp program, giving $1,000 a month and mentorship support to emerging Black artists and industry executives in Nashville; the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame via the Guaranteed Income Program, giving $1,000 a month and mentorship support to emerging Black artists and industry executives nationwide; artist GUNNA via the GUNNA x BMAC 30349 Guaranteed Income Program, providing a $500,000 investment to support 30 families in need in Fulton County, Georgia; and the BMAC Restore & Rebuild LA Program in Altadena, California, with nearly $1 million in economic relief for families affected by the 2025 Eaton Fire. With the annual Music Maker Grant, BMAC continues its efforts to reinforce and champion the contributions of Black artists who are shaping society.
