In recognition of her milestone 80th birthday on Jan. 19, Dolly Parton just released a new rendition of her classic hit “Light of a Clear Blue Morning” featuring Lainey Wilson, Miley Cyrus, Queen Latifah and Reba McEntire.

Parton wrote the song in 1976 during a difficult time as she was ending her musical partnership with Porter Wagoner. It first appeared on her 1977 album New Harvest…First Gathering and became what she has called her “song of deliverance.” Fifty years later, the song still stands as one of Parton’s most inspirational works.

She revisits the song with a powerful lineup of female voices and a message of spreading love and hope. The song and music video – which also features David Foster on piano and The Christ Church Choir of Nashville on backing vocals – was produced by Dolly Parton alongside Kent Wells and mixed by Chris Lord-Alge.

“I wrote ‘Light of a Clear Blue Morning’ during a season when I was searching for hope, and 50 years later that message still feels just as true,” states Parton in a release. “As I celebrate my 80th birthday, this new version is my way of using what I’ve been blessed with to shine a little light forward, especially by sharing it with some truly incredible women.”

The release marks not only a celebration of Parton’s extraordinary life and legacy, but also a continuation of her lifelong commitment to using music as a force for good with net proceeds from the song and accompanying music video benefiting the pediatric cancer research program at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt in Nashville, Tennessee, a longtime partner and cause close to Parton’s heart.

Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital opened in 2004 and is one of the nation’s leading children’s hospitals. In 2025, the hospital was again named among the nation’s “Best Children’s Hospitals” for the 19th consecutive year by U.S. News & World Report. Additionally, the hospital earned the distinction as the No. 1 pediatric hospital in Tennessee and shares first place in the Southeast region for the fifth consecutive year.
