Live Nation Continues Expanding In LATAM, Invests In Bizarro Peru

Peru

Live Nation announced it has forged a new partnership in South America, making a majority investment in Bizarro Live Entertainment’s Peruvian operation to develop the country’s capital, Lima, as a major touring destination for international artists, regional talent and, most importantly, Spanish-language music acts.

“Lima, Peru, is the fifth largest city in South America and an increasingly important destination for artists touring the continent,” Live Nation CEO and President Michael Rapino said in a statement. “Partnering with Bizarro Peru allows us to strengthen what already works, support their local expertise, and bring even more great shows and live experiences to fans in Lima and across the country.”

Bizarro Live Entertainment is one of the region’s top promoters and produces more than 200 shows a year. In addition to Peru, the company promotes concerts in Chile, Colombia, Ecuador and Uruguay.

Live Nation has a team in Lima led by Alberto Menacho, and the major promoter will work closely with them alongside Bizarro Peru’s leadership to bolster local operations by expanding programming and bringing more premier tours to the capital.

“Our partnership with Live Nation in Perú marks an exciting new chapter for Bizarro Peru,” said Alfredo Alonso, Bizarro Peru’s director of entertainment. “Together with Alberto and the team in Lima, we’ll combine Live Nation’s global expertise with our deep local knowledge to elevate the live music experience for fans and artists across the country.”

The deal is one of many Live Nation has made in Latin America over the past decade as the region continues to develop as a premier destination in the touring business. The company has invested heavily in prominent promoters such as OCESA in Mexico and Colombia, Páramo Presenta in Colombia, Chile’s DG Medios and DF Entertainment in Argentina.

News of the partnership with Bizarro Peru comes just over three months after Live Nation unveiled plans to open Lima Music Arena, an 18,500-capacity building that would be the first purpose-built indoor venue for live music.
