ZAYN Scales Back ‘Konnakol World Tour,’ Cancels US Leg

Following a hospitalization due to an unspecified illness, former One Direction star Zayn Malik scaled back his “Konnakol World Tour” and canceled all U.S. dates scheduled later this year.
The mononymous artist known as ZAYN was supposed to embark on a U.S. arena tour from July through September following shows in the U.K. and Mexico. He’s still scheduled to kick off his tour May 23 at The O2 in London, followed by a show at AO Arena in Manchester. Tickets for concerts in Mexico are still listed on the website, as well as shows in South America in October.
He posted a message for his fans in an Instagram story early Friday and said, “Thank you so much for all the support and love you’ve shown me on the album release and more importantly your love, prayers, and well wishes for my health. I’ve felt it, and it’s meant the world. I’ve been at home recovering, and I’m doing well and will be better and stronger than before.”
ZAYN went on to say that he looked at his schedule and decided to reduce the number of shows on the tour.
“I want to make sure I still get out and see as many of you as I possibly can,” he added. “I’m really looking forward to playing these shows for you, and I hope to see the rest of you around the world very soon.”
He was hitting the road to promote the release of his latest album KONNAKOL. The singer was hospitalized on April 17, the same day his latest album was released, and posted a photo of himself in a hospital gown, letting his fans know that he was “unexpectedly recovering.
ZAYN had a successful Las Vegas residency at Dolby Live at Park MGM Las Vegas earlier this year. He sold out his final show of the residency on Jan. 31 and grossed $843,408 off 5,280 tickets, according to Pollstar Boxoffice. The singer also had great success in Mexico last year, selling out a two-night stand at Mexico City’s Palacio de los Deportes and grossing $3,377,741 off 32,225 tickets sold across both nights.
United Talent Agency’s Mike G and David Zedeck represent the artist worldwide.
