Governors Ball Ends Early Due To Bad Weather, Kali Uchis, Amyl & The Sifters Sets Cut, Blood Orange Returning Tomorrow

New York CIty’s Governors Ball today (June 6) had to end the festival early due to “approaching weather.,” according to a Gov Ball Instagram post posted around 4:45 p.m. ET. The inclement weather led headliners The Stray Kids to go on early at 6:15 p.m. and the cutting of sets by Kali Uchis, Amlyl & The Sifters and Blood Orange. At press time, however, Blood Orange was announced to return tomorrow, June 7 at 4:00 p.m .

GovBall’s initial post read as follows: “FESTIVAL UPDATE, “We are adjusting the performance schedule due to approaching weather. Stray Kids will now perform from 6:15–7:30pm, with today’s festival ending following their performance. Please stay tuned for further updates.”

Thh festival’s second Instagram at roughly 9:00 PM ET went into more detail: “We appreciate your patience as we had to make some difficult scheduling decisions tonight due to the incoming weather. Safety remains our top priority but we understand that some of these decisions were disappointing to many of you. In an effort to remedy the situation, we have some good news to share! We are thrilled to announce that Blood Orange has graciously agreed to come back to perform tomorrow, 6/7 at 4pm on the Snapchat Stage. The Sunday schedule has been updated, so please check it out before heading to the park tomorrow.”

This is not in any way the first time Governors Ball has had to adjust the festival due to weather patterns as the summer months in many parts of the U.S., especially in the northeast, can be volatile and/or dangerous especially in June. Over the course of GovBall’s sixteen-year history the festival has faced many impediments across four different venues that included severe storms, a “Mud Ball,” Canadian wildfire smoke and even an earthquake.
Last year, day two of GovBall faced weather delays, which saw the cancellation of early sets. Olivia Rodrigo, the day’s headliner, had her set moved from 8:30 p.m. to 9:25 p.m. while Feid and Wave to Earth had their 8:30 p.m. sets moved to 8:45 p.m.
Since its move to Flushing Meadows Corona Park in Queens in 2023, hwever, GovBall has been on something of a roll with its programming, attendance, sponsors and more.
