Mat Ishbia, CEO and chairman of United Wholesale Mortgage and the majority owner of the NBA’s Phoenix Suns and WNBA’s Phoenix Mercury, unveiled an immersive LED display coming to Mortgage Matchup Center this fall.

Measuring 226 feet wide by 41 feet tall, the 9,266-square-foot installation will create a visual centerpiece spanning the arena’s plaza entrance. The installation sets a new standard as the only transparent display of this size on an NBA/WNBA arena.

“We want everyone who visits Mortgage Matchup Center to have a memorable experience, and that starts the moment they arrive,” stated Ishbia in the announcement. “We’re creating a place where fans can come together for the biggest moments in sports and entertainment, and our new LED display gives us a powerful new platform to celebrate the Suns and Mercury, connect with our community and engage with our fans.”

With the new display, fans will be able to gather for outdoor watch parties, relive highlights and clips, and see Suns, Mercury and entertainment content across the entire entrance façade.

The transparent mesh LED display is integrated behind the glass paneling, allowing natural light to flow into the pavilion while maintaining views of downtown Phoenix. The LED panels on either side of the center display can operate independently or seamlessly combine with the center display to create one continuous visual. Featuring more than 17 million pixels and a 60 frames-per-second refresh rate, the display will deliver clear, vibrant content for guests and visibility for partners.

OneRevel designed and engineered the display and supported the project’s systems integration and installation. The display features advanced LED technology from Absen, a global leader in LED display solutions.

The new videoboard is the latest example of Ishbia’s “fans first” strategy. Other initiatives include the NBA and WNBA’s most affordable $2 value menu and elevated culinary offerings through OVG Hospitality (Oak View Group is Pollstar’s parent company) to innovative bowl lighting and premium experiences like the FanDuel Lounge, M Club by BMW and The Ra Ra Room, the first-ever members-only dining club in a sports and entertainment venue.

With a capacity of 17,000+ Mortgage Matchup Center attracts more than 2.5 million fans each year. Since opening in 1992, the arena has hosted some of the world’s most celebrated events and in 2027 the arena will welcome the NBA’s All Star matchup.
