The iconic rock-blues act shifted 155,000 tickets in the first three hours of the onsale. Dates for the reunion shows run from October to early December.

These sales outdid Chisel’s own 1983 farewell “Last Stand” tour, as well as Powderfinger’s farewell “Sunsets” trek last year and Powderfinger’s 2007 team-up with Silverchair for the “Across The Great Divide” tour.

Chisel’s latest run in October clocked 170,000 tickets in 24 hours, with more dates added nationally.

The tour’s problems included a winery show in Western Australia being given strict alcohol restrictions after police feared their resources would be stretched with numerous events on the day.

In Rockhampton, North Queensland, councilor Cherie Rutherford questioned why council agreed to Chisel playing open-air concert at night at the Showgrounds without a debate.

The Oct. 27 show has a 10:30 p.m. curfew. But Rutherford recounted that the last time Chisel singer Jimmy Barnes played a solo date in the city, some residents fled their homes and booked into motels because of the noise.
