Dramatic Dates From Dream Theater
A Dramatic Turn of Events is due out Sept. 13 on Roadrunner Records. The album is the first to feature drummer Mike Mangini, who replaced founding member Mike Portnoy.
A special edition CD/DVD set will be available including a 60-minute documentary about the progressive metal band’s drummer auditions, in addition to a double LP in a gatefold jacket, instrumentals of the entire album, a custom turntable slipmat, and a litho print of the album.
“We are all very pumped about the release of A Dramatic Turn of Events this September, as well as the world tour we’ll embark upon in support of the album,” guitarist John Petrucci said.
“Our first leg will bring us throughout North America where we’ll showcase songs from the new album along with tons of fan favorites and a brand new tour production unlike any other that we’ve done before. We’re equally excited to have our friends in Trivium join us. It’s sure to be an incredible tour. We’re looking forward to seeing all of our friends on the road this fall!”
As Petrucci pointed out, the band’s Roadrunner labelmates will join Dream Theater on the road for many dates.
The tour begins Sept. 24 in San Francisco at Warfield Theatre. North American dates are scheduled through an Oct. 26 gig in Austin, Texas, at Bass Concert Hall.
Additional U.S. shows include Seattle at Showbox SoDo (Sept. 27); Pittsburgh at Trib Total Media Amphitheatre (Oct. 4); Boston at Orpheum Theatre (Oct. 10); New York at Beacon Theatre (Oct. 12); Clearwater, Fla., at Ruth Eckerd Hall (Oct. 22); and Houston at Verizon Wireless Theater (Oct. 25).
The Canadian stops include Vancouver, British Columbia, at Queen Elizabeth Theatre (Sept. 28); Toronto’s Massey Hall (Oct. 6); Montreal’s Place des Arts (Oct. 7); and Quebec City, Quebec, at Pavilion de la Jeunesse (Oct. 8). More dates will be announced soon.
