Furay teamed up with Neil Young and Stephen Stills in October 2010 for two nights at Young’s
The shows marked the first time the band had performed together publicly in 42 years.
Buffalo Springfield reunited once again in June for a series of six California shows in Oakland, Los Angeles and Santa Barbara, followed by an appearance at
Earlier this month Furay discussed the fall tour on his personal blog, writing, “The dates have not been published as of yet but there are plans in the works for a tour of somewhere near 30 shows starting at the end of the summer. … Look out for tickets and plan ahead for a full tour starting in September.”
On Monday he alluded to the tour by tweeting, “Looking forward to the fall.”
Now Furay says fans will have to wait a bit longer for another chance to catch the folk rock band on the road.
“For those of you getting excited about the Buffalo Springfield fall tour – word has just come to me that it has been moved to the first of next year,” he recently wrote on his Facebook page (via RollingStone.com). “I’m not going to spend a lot time here with details as you speculate among yourselves – there’s nothing to speculate about, the tour has simply been moved.”
Rolling Stone talked to Furay and Stills before the band’s Bonnaroo set, noting that Stills wasn’t so sure about playing 30 dates.
“They better have a break in there,” Stills told the magazine. “If we had this much trouble with six, I can’t imagine 30.”
After forming in 1966 Buffalo Springfield broke up less than three years later. The band released its third and final album, Last Time Around, in 1968. Original bassist Bruce Palmer died in 2004 and drummer Dewey Martin died in 2009.
