The Black Keys Sue Bank
The Black Keys are suing a New Jersey bank and a NYC ad agency for allegedly using its hit song “Tighten Up” in a television commercial without the band’s consent.
The lawsuit, filed on behalf of the band’s Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney in U.S. District Court in Nashville, claims Valley National Bank and Della Femina/Rothschild/Jeary Partners committed copyright infringement by the unauthorized use of the Grammy-winning song, according to the Tennessean.
The suit also says Valley National Bank continued to run the ad even after a Black Keys rep sent it a cease-and-desist letter.
The band is reportedly seeking unspecified damages and an injunction against the defendants, the paper said.
