Badu, Dratch Go A Streamin’ With My Morning Jacket
The stream, part of American Express’ “Unstaged” performance series, comes to you via a partnership with Vevo and YouTube May 31 and coincides with the release of the band’s album Circuital.
The stream will be directed by Todd Haynes, the man responsible for 2007’s “I’m Not There” which utilized six actors to depict various aspects of Bob Dylan’s life and career. But that wasn’t Haynes’ first foray into depicting the lives of music’s rich and famous. One of his first projects was the short feature “Superstar: The Karen Carpenter Story” where he utilized Barbie and Ken-style dolls to depict the life and times of the drummer/singer from Downey, Calif.
“We are incredibly honored that Todd Haynes has agreed to direct this show for us,” My Morning Jacket’s Jim James said in a statement. “We can’t wait to immerse ourselves in his creative vision and masterful take on this live-streamed performance. Fans will certainly be in for a magical and surreal ride.
The May 31 show will be an interactive experience with fans determining camera angles as well as tweeting the band and voting for the song of the evening.
The show ill also be a first for the “Unstaged” series in that it will be live-streamed to mobile devices, including iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad and Android devices. Click here for more information.
