You’d be hard-pressed to find a teen performer in the ‘80s that was bigger than Deborah Gibson or Tiffany.

Born Tiffany Renee Darwish, the singer originally tried her luck in the early 1980s singing country music, but quickly turned to pop, signing with record label MCA in ’86, the same year she embarked on one of the first “mall tours,” and hitting Top-40 gold with her remake of Tommy James & The Shondells’ “I Think We’re Alone Now.”

Fame came to Gibson by the time she was 16. A teen who wrote her own songs, Gibson had four hits on her debut album Out Of The Blue – “Only In My Dreams,” “Shake Your Love” and “Foolish Beat” as well as the title track.

While each artist eventually left teendom behind, new interest in the performers came about earlier this year when they starred in the SyFy Channel movie “Mega Python vs Gatoroid,” where the singers duked it out, smashed food in each other’s faces and left audiences begging for a tour.

So far only one date has been announced – July 29 in Westbury, N.Y., at the NYCB Theatre At Westbury – but a posting by Gibson on her website detailed what the tour will consist of.

“We have decided to pay tribute to all 80’s music by performing hits that influenced us from that decade, as well as performing our own hits, and debuting new music.”
