Go-Go’s Are ‘Ladies Gone Wild’
This summer’s “Ladies Gone Wild” outing traces its roots back to last June when guitarist Jane Wiedlin suffered knee injuries while hiking. Having to undergo surgery, Wiedlin’s mishap forced the cancellation of what was going to be the Go-Go’s farewell tour. With the band suddenly inactive, the ladies decided there was still plenty of life in the group that gave the world hits such as “Our Lips Are Sealed,” “We Got The Beat” and “Vacation.”
The tour begins in Hershey, Pa., at the Hershey Theatre May 29. Other destinations include New York’s Irving Plaza June 3; Atlantic City’s House Of Blues June 4; Westbury, N.Y., at the NYCB Theatre At Westbury June 7; Apple Valley, Minn., at the Minnesota Zoo Amphitheatre June 14; Vancouver, B.C., at the Commodore Ballroom; Aug. 12; Seattle at the Woodland Park Zoo Aug. 14; Los Angeles at the Greek Theatre Aug. 17 and Austin at the Paramount Theatre Aug. 28.
The Go-Go’s are also doing a few dates with The B-52’s – Boston at Bank Of America Pavilion June 9; Clarkston, Mich., at the DTE Energy Music Theatre June 16; Highland Park, Ill., at the Ravinia Festival June 17 and Kettering, Ohio, at the Fraze Pavilion June 18.
Along with the anniversary tour comes the May 17 deluxe release of Beauty And The Beat containing a bonus audio CD featuring previously unreleased music from a 1981 live performance. In August the band will get its own star on Hollywood’s Walk Of Fame.
Ticket sales for the upcoming tour begin this week in select markets. For more information, check out the Go-Go’s website and Twitter feed.
