Gwar’s 25th Anniversary “Slay-A-Bration” Tour Continues
You gotta figure that whoever handles Gwar’s press relishes each and every moment the band makes an announcement. That’s because it gives him or her the opportunity to deep-six the precise, carefully worded corporate lingo other clients require in exchange for cutting loose on the keyboard with lines like “intergalactic murder-machines” that are “apparently tired of abusing penguins.”
Then there’s the fact that Gwar started out 26 years ago but is still on its 25th anniversary “Slay-A-Bration” tour. Oh, well, what would you rather have? Crazy good shock rock or boring good math?
The newly announced run begins in Raleigh, N.C., at Lincoln Theatre Feb. 17 followed by Allentown, Penn., at Crocodile Rock Feb. 18 and Millvale, Penn., at Mr. Small’s Theatre Feb. 19. Other stops include Brooklyn (Feb. 20), Syracuse (Feb. 21), Burlington, Vt. (Feb. 22), Providence, R.I. (Feb. 23), Sayreville, N.J. (Feb. 24) and Richmond, Va. (Feb. 25).
“It seems we were about 8,000 zombies short of our goal, which was to fill every hull of our Skumdog War Fleet with blood-mad slavering zombie shock-soldiers,” Gwar’s Oderus said. “So we decided to come back to the U.S., reopen the Bloody Pit, and mutate some more of our helpless followers. Then we shall invade the very heart of the galaxy with our infected hatred and lust for war against all things alive. That and party.”
Yep. You don’t see quotes like that every day.
Gwar also wants you to know that bassist Beefcake The Mighty is offering advice to the lovelorn. Click here and all your relationship problems will be solved.
