Enter Foo Fighters’ Music Video Contest
The rock back is accepting video reels from fans who also happen to be aspiring filmmakers. To enter, simply fill out the entry form and upload a YouTube video of your directorial video production reel. The videos must be no longer than 10 minutes.
Oh, and just make sure your video doesn’t suck. The Foo Fighters have posted a few videos on the contest page to give fans an idea of what they’re not looking for. In one video Dave Grohl and the gang show off their new look, complete with sparkly dresses and wigs. There’s also a cameo from Kathy Griffin. The second video shows the band hanging upside down inside of giant piñatas.
“This video sucks,” Grohl tells fans. “You can do way better.”
The contest, which is sponsored by Sony, is open now through Jan. 31. A panel of judges will then choose 11 grand prize winners, who will each receive a round-trip airline ticket to an NYC-area airport, one night’s hotel accommodation in NYC, and the opportunity to create a music video for a track from the Foo Fighters’ new album. The videos will premier on Fuse.
Grohl recently told BBC Radio 1 that the band’s new album is now complete.
“There’s 11 songs and front to back there’s not one sleepy ballad,” said Grohl.
The album – which is the follow-up to 2007’s Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace – is set for release later this year.
The as-yet-untitled album was produced by Garbage drummer Butch Vig, who also produced Nirvana’s Nevermind record. The release also features a guest appearance from former Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic.
