Beatles Tribute Member Dies
Gary Grimes, bass player for Beatles act 1964 – The Tribute, died from complications of a brain tumor Dec. 13.
Grimes, 60, had been part of the touring act for 30 years and the right-hander learned to play bass left-handed to simulate Paul McCartney.
The Tribute, one of the first and most successful of Beatles tribute acts, focuses on the early Beatles numbers and is known for its uncanny reenactment of the Fab Four.
Even its equipment – vintage Vox amps and Rickenbacker guitars – have been known to draw envious musicians to the venue.
